Comprehensive Renovation
Architecture defines the transition between social interaction and privacy through a clear sequence of spatial filters.
BEJ house is the renovation of a residence located in the historic center of Mérida, where the original spatial configuration was preserved while adapting the program to the contemporary needs of its occupants. The project was conceived around the concept of social filters, organizing spaces through a gradual transition between public, semi-public, and private realms.
The house is structured as a sequence of spaces connected by courtyards and transitional elements that regulate visual relationships, natural light, and ventilation, maintaining spatial continuity while preserving a clear hierarchy between areas.
Its material palette emphasizes a warm and timeless atmosphere through the use of neutral tones and natural textures, seeking a balanced integration between the existing structure and the contemporary intervention.
BEJ house understands dwelling as a gradual experience, where architecture defines the transition between social interaction and intimacy through a clear sequence of spatial filters.
